The closest analogy we have for Epicene's banging new video for "Criminals" is imagine if Scissor Sisters had signed to  Kitsuné (incidentally, in describing their aesthetic for early videos, Epicene's Max Hershenow and Zofia Allyne have cited Scissor Sisters "Invisible Light"). "Criminals" was first shared by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 back in July; on their official tumblr, Epicene describes the video, directed by Charlotte Rutherford, as a stand in for their own internal battle as they grapple for their place in the modern pop landscape.

In "Criminals", like all the promotion from How Does It Feel so far, the duo trades the candy-coloured grotesquerie of their first album for garish, jewel-toned colour schemes. Hershenow serves blue-steel like we were guests at a four-course feast with nothing but blue steel on the menu and leads a dance break while Allyne, blonde hair in a high ponytail, smirks and advances on the uncorrupted versions of the pair like a big cat. With jewels, electricity, and dancing boys, it's no wonder that Epicene succumbs to the allure of their own dark side by the end.

How Does It Feel is out now via RCA.
